SHU Baseball Seeks to Defend Title at NEC Baseball Tournament as #2 Seed
(Fairfield, CT) - Sacred Heart University Baseball will be the #2 seed in the upcoming 2012 Northeast Conference Baseball Tournament, set to begin Thursday, May 17 and run through Sunday, May 20 (if necessary) at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, CT.
The Pioneers (22-30, 19-13) will take on the #3 seeded CCSU Blue Devils to kick off the double-elimination tournament, with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. #1 Monmouth takes on #4 Fairleigh Dickenson at 12:00 p.m.
Tickets to the event will be available at the Dodd Stadium ticket office on the day of the each event. NEC students with a valid ID and children under 5 years old will be admitted free. Tickets are $10 for those 13 and older and $5 for those individuals between 5-12 years of age and 65 and older.
Every game will also be streamed live for free viewing at NortheastConference.TV, with Craig D'Amico and Matt Harmon on the call. The Pioneers Sports Network will also have live and free audio coverage of each game, with Randy Brochu on the play-by-play and former SHU Baseball player Steve Tedesco providing color commentary by following this link.
The Pioneers seek to repeat their fortunes from 2011, when they won the NEC Championship at Dodd Stadium as the #2 seed by sweeping the competition, including two wins to close out the series against the #1 seed Monmouth.
