Sacred Heart Baseball Inks Branford High Pitcher Jeff Stoddard for 2012
Jeff Stoddard (Branford, CT) recently committed to Sacred Heart University and signed a national letter of intent to play baseball for the Pioneers in 2012. Alongside his parents Scott and Callista and his Branford High school head coach George Dummar, Stoddard signed his national letter of intent during the early signing period, committing to pitch for SHU head coach Nick Giaquinto.
"We are excited about having Jeff join the Pioneer baseball program," said Giaquinto. "Jeff has a proven track record and we expect him to be a valuable addition to our staff".
Stoddard is a proven winner at the high school and legion levels already going into his senior season at Branford. He was the winning pitcher his sophomore year in the Connecticut Class L State Championship for Branford High School. His junior season, he was named Branford High School's most valuable pitcher for the second consecutive year and was named to the All SCC oronoque team
This past summer, he helped lead his Branford legion team to state and regional championships by throwing complete game shutouts in the semi-finals of both rounds. He finished the legion season with a 9-1 record and 1.60 ERA for a team that played in the Legion World Series in Spokane, WA, finishing seventh in the country.
