Equestrian Team Reserve Champions in First Show of the Season

Fairfield, CT--On Sunday October 2, 2011 the new-look Pioneers, doubling the size of their roster from last semester, competed at their first show of the season at Mystic Valley Hunt Club. The morning storm, though fierce, did not deter the winning attitude of the Pioneers.

Abbie Britton placed second in her Open Flat class. Alissa Normandeau placed third in the Intermediate flat.  Adrianna Dattoli took first in her Intermediate flat and second in Novice jumping, qualifying her for Regionals in both.  In the Novice division, Meagan Korolyshun placed first in flat and Allison Buccos took second over fences.  Freshmen Allison Brosky and Taylor DiBella made their collegiate debuts for the Pioneers.  Brosky took first in Novice Fences and DiBella received second in Novice Flat.

Emma Joseph made her competition debut at the event in dramatic fashion. Joseph took second place in the Walk-Trot class propelling the Sacred Heart Equestrian team into the ribbons. They finished the day as reserve champions, putting them in prime striking distance to take the team point lead in the Connecticut region next week.

The Pioneers ride again this Saturday at Lee's Riding Stable Inc. in Litchfield, CT.
