Sacred Heart University Equestrian Invited to WEF Collegiate Equestrian Challenge

FARIFELD, CT (February 4, 2011) - The Sacred Heart Equestrian will be returning to the second annual WEF Collegiate Equestrian Challenge. The competition will be held during the Winter Equestrian Festival at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Florida on February 11th, 2011.

The tournament is in a bracket format with sixteen riders representing 16 Division I Universities. Riders will compete head-to-head over an Equitation course with jump heights up to 3'6". Riders will be competing on horses loaned by local professionals and will be unfamiliar to the riders. Preliminary rounds will take place in the afternoon with the final riders competing at 7:00 pm in the International Arena.

Junior Abbie Britton (Hoover, AL) will be representing the Sacred Heart University Equestrian Team. Britton competes in the Open Division on the IHSA Team at SHU as well as competing on the Varsity Squad. She was selected because of her experience and ranking in the equestrian standings.
