FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Sacred Heart University women's volleyball freshman Sarah Ciszek was named the Molten/NEC Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league Monday afternoon.
This is the third time this season that Ciszek has been named Rookie of the Week and first time that she was named Player of the Week, totaling four weekly awards so far this season.
In a 2-0 weekend for the Pioneers, Ciszek was stellar, recording her second career triple-double with 12 kills, 33 assists and 15 digs as SHU notched a pivotal straight-set win over Saint Francis U on Friday. Ciszek followed that up with a near triple double, totaling eight kills, 34 assists and 12 digs in a 3-1 triumph over RMU. Ciszek finished the weekend averaging 9.57 assists, 3.86 digs and 2.86 kills per set while also hitting at a robust .581 clip. She currently leads the NEC in hitting percentage (.340) and assists per set (9.14) this season.
Sacred Heart currently holds a 12-6 (5-2 NEC) record and will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 19 when the Pioneers travel to take on NEC-foe LIU Brooklyn.
