For the fourth straight season, the Sacred Heart University women's track and field coaching staff earned Northeast Conference Outdoor Coaching Staff of the Year honors. The staff led the Pioneers to a fourth consecutive NEC Outdoor Championship, 8.5 points in front of the runner-up.
Head coach Christian Morrison earns NEC Coach of the Year honors for the 20th time in his career, including the 2017 Women's Cross-Country Coach of the Year honors. Joining Morrison on the Pioneers coaching staff is Meghan Patterson, Timothy Beach, Ranard Adkison and Lexia Robinson.
The conference office also announced the 2018 NEC Outdoor Track and Field All-Conference and All-Rookie Teams. The women's team collected nine honors, while the men accounted for four spots.
Kate Svensen, who was named the Most Outstanding Track Performer (Distance) at the championships, was named First-Team All-NEC in the 10,000m and will represent SHU at the 2018 NCAA East Regional on Thursday night. Tara Connelly earned first-team honors in the Steeple Chase and Jenna Rothermal in the hammer throw. The Pioneers 4x800 relay; comprised of Connelly, Jacqueline Thorne, Caroline Conte, and Hannah Chamblin, earned First-Team honors as well.
Trevor Guerrera was tabbed to the first team at 1500m, and will represent the Pioneers in the 800m at the 2018 NCAA East Regional this week. Michael Kearns also was named to the first team in the shot put.
Chamblin picked up All-NEC Second Team honors in the 800m, while Svensen earned the accolade in the 5,000m and Lindsey Lucas in the steeple chase.
