Women's Tennis Falls 4-0 To Top-Seeded LIU Brooklyn

The fourth-seeded Sacred Heart University women's tennis team was defeated 4-0 by top-ranked LIU Brooklyn in the semifinals of the Northeast Conference Championship Saturday morning. The Pioneers end the season with a 9-15 record as the Blackbirds advance to Sunday's championship match.

LIU Brooklyn earned the doubles point with wins at first and second doubles. The Blackbirds clinched the match with straight set wins at second, fourth and six singles.

Singles Competition

1. Olivia Podsiebierski was trailing Anna Grigoryan 6-1, 4-3 when the match ended

2. Julia Brzozowska defeated Brianne Lauria 6-0, 6-1

3. Sasha Bollweg led Keira Tobia 6-1, 5-2 when match ended

4. Malin Leysen earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Lauren Santarsiero

5. Sabrina Navarro was trailing 6-4, 3-1 to Ana Leonte

6. Clemence Krug earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Adrianne Alfonso


Doubles Competition

1. Grigoryan and Leonte defeated Laura and Santarsiero, 6-2

2. Bollweg and Brzozowska defated Podsiebierski and Navarro, 6-3

3. Jennifer Gogova and Leysen led 5-3 over Alfonso and Laura Crivei when the Blackbirds clinched the doubles point
