SOMERSET, N.J. - The Sacred Heart University Women's Tennis team was picked to finish tied for fourth in the 2019 Northeast Conference Preseason Poll this afternoon.
LIU Brooklyn made a dominating run to the program's fourth Northeast Conference (NEC) women's tennis title a year ago, and the league's head coaches have surmised a repeat may be in store this coming spring as the Blackbirds look to earn back to back to back titles .
Defending conference champions LIU Brooklyn, earned five first place votes in the annual preseason poll, to finish ahead last year's runner-up Bryant. The Bulldogs received two first place nods.
Perennial contender Fairleigh Dickinson was voted third tallying one first place vote, followed by Saint Francis U and Sacred Heart, both tied for fourth, respectively. Mount St. Mary's, Wagner and St. Francis Brooklyn rounded out the poll in that order.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday Sept. 16 when SHU hosts Colgate. Match-time is set for 4:00 p.m.
