LOUISVILLE, KY.- Sacred Heart University student-athletes graduate student Fallon Bevino and senior Hailey Desrosiers were each named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region teams this afternoon. Bevino was named to the Northeast Region Second Team while Desrosiers was named to the Northeast Region Third Team.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for the 2019 NFCA Division I All-America squads.
Bevino had an impressive season being named to the NEC All-Conference First Team and being awarded the NEC Golden Glove Award for her impressive defensive play. She capped off the 2019 season batting .339 with six homers, 14 doubles with a 30 RBI and 42 hits in the 39 games she played in. She was fourth in the NEC in doubles and was second on team in RBI's. Her fielding was impeccable racking up a fielding percentage of .992 with a total of 235 putouts.
Desrosiers also had a fantastic season being named the NEC Player of the Year and making the NEC All-Conference First Team as well. She capped off 2019 with a total of 73 hits which puts her first in program history in single season hits. She was second in the NEC in hits and prior to the NEC tournament led the conference in batting average but at the end of the season still led with a .399 average as well as tallied 17 doubles which led the team and second in the Northeast Conference. She was also named NEC Player of the Week once this season on March 5.
