FAIRFIELD, Conn.—Sacred Heart University softball duo of senior Lauren Delgadillo and junior Kristen McCann were named Northeast Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively after guiding the Pioneers to a 5-0 weekend sweep at the Hampton Inn BWI UMBC Dawg Pound Invitational.

Delgadillo had a stellar weekend from the leadoff spot for SHU as she batted .471 with a .941 slugging percentage in Baltimore. She recorded two home runs, a triple to go along with eight runs scored and four runs batted in. 

She opened the weekend with a 3-for-4 afternoon in the 9-4 win over La Salle, falling f a double short of the cycle, picking up a triple and a home run to go along with a single. Delgadillo also crossed the plate three times to go along with two runs batted in.

The Pioneers centerfielder scored three more times in the Pioneers 9-6 win over UMBC and a 4-0 win over Drexel. Delgadillo was once again the catalyst at the plate with a 3-for-4 day in the Pioneers 5-1 win over Saint Peter's on Sunday. She picked up her second home run of the weekend in the fourth inning against the Peacocks.

McCann recorded her third weekly pitching honor of the season with a 2-0 record with a pair of saves in the weekend sweep. The right-hander allowed just four runs in 17 innings, striking out 22 batters in four appearances.

She opened the weekend with a complete game in the Pioneers 9-4 win over La Salle on Friday afternoon. She struck out a season-high 12 batters over seven innings of work. She then shut the door in the 9-6 win over UMBC on Friday night, recording the final two outs of the game.

McCann then twirled her fifth shutout of the season with a complete game against Drexel. She held the Dragons to just five hits while striking out five in seven frames. She then closed the weekend with a save against Drexel on Sunday, throwing a hitless two and a third innings with four strikeouts.

The Pioneers open up at home on Saturday, March 24 against UMass-Lowell. The doubleheader from Pioneer Park is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
