FAIRFIELD, Conn.— Sacred Heart University softball junior Kristen McCann garnered her second Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week honors of the season on Monday.
McCann threw her first career no-hitter on Saturday in a 4-0 win over Albany. She recorded three complete games at the Winthrop Tournament, going 2-1 with a 1.25 ERA in 22.1 innings of work. She recorded 24 strikeouts and yielded just 11 hits.
The Phoenix, AZ native fanned eight batters in the opening 3-1 win over Norfolk State. She followed that up with another eight strikeouts in the no-hit bid over the Great Danes, surrendering just two walks. McCann is 4-1 on the season with a 1.32 ERA and 42 strikeouts.
McCann and the Pioneers continue Spring Break in South Carolina with a doubleheader against Furman beginning at 2:00 p.m.
