Pioneers Fall To Manhattan

The Pioneers dropped a pair of games to the Jaspers of Manhattan this Wednesday on Pioneer Park. The Pioneers were led by Lauren Delgadillo who posted two hits in the doubleheader. The Pioneers are back at home tomorrow as they take on crosstown rival Fairfield, at 3:30pm.


Manhattan 2              Sacred Heart 0

  • Manhattan struck first, in the opening inning picking up an unearned run, following a pick off from catcher Dani Warnken
  • The Pioneers threatened the Jaspers early, as they started the inning with a walk, and a Delgadillo single down the right field line
  • SHU held Manhattan scoreless in the second, and third inning, but the Jaspers would bring in another run to earn the 2-0 victory
  • Kristen McCann would go the distance for SHU, and pick up the loss

  • Senior Jamie Carlson started the first inning hot, striking out the side.
  • The Pioneers threatened early as Delgadillo started with a lead off single, but the score remained scoreless thru one
  • The Jaspers would get on the board after they had a big second inning to take a 2-0 lead
  • The Pioneers couldn't get the bats going as they would struggle to find a run in the game
  • Manhattan would open things up after a big seventh inning to take a 9-0 win
  • Jamie Carlson finished the game with six strikeouts, and a give up a lone two hits
