Pioneers Fall To Maine In Double-Header

The Sacred Heart softball team took on the Black Bears on Maine in a double-header, as the Pioneers fell in both games. Hailey Desrosiers led SHU at the plate on the day going 3-6 combined in the two games. The Pioneers are back at home Wednesday the 29th, as they take on Manhattan in a double header.


Maine 3          Sacred Heart 2

  • Emily Orosco started the game on the mound for SHU, as she gave up an early 3 runs in the second inning. Jamie Carlson would get the nod, as she came in, and let up a lone two hits and struck out four batters, pitching the final six innings.
  • Desrosier, and Fallon Bevino each tallied two hits in the opening game, with Bevino going 2-3, while Desrosiers went 2-4
  • Hannah Ford picked up the lone RBI in game one as she ripped a double to centerfield to bring in Kristen McCann in the second inning

Maine 4          Sacred Heart 0

  • McCann took the mound for the second game, and would manage to surrender no runs in the opening 5 innings. The Black Bears would open things up on McCann in the 6th and 7th as they would add two runs in each inning. McCann finished the day with three strikeouts, and gave up five hits
  • The Pioneers managed to pick up four hits but couldn't put it together as they were blanked in game two
  • Desrosiers finished the game 1-2, with a double, and drew a walk
  • McCann not only was a threat on the mound, but hit 2-3 in game two, with two singles
