Pioneers Drop Two Game In Double Header

The Sacred Heart softball team hit the mid point of their California trip with a double header against Cal St. Northridge. The Pioneers went on to fall 8-0, and 3-2. The Pioneers are now 3-7 on the year and close out the west coast trip at the Gaucho Classic, taking on Northern Colorado, San Diego, and Santa Barbara.

  • SHU was first to strike, as they picked up McKenna Wiegand doubled to left center to bring in Stephanie Appelberg
  • Sacred Heart didn't stop their as Lauren Delgadillo singled up the middle, bringing in Wiegand to move the score to 2-0 going into the bottom of the fifth
  • Cal St. Northridge would respond in the fifth as they rattled off three runs to take the lead, which would hold to close the game 3-2
  • The Pioneers committed no errors in the game, and three Pioneers picked up hits
  • Kristen McCann was on the mound for SHU as her record moves to 1-4. McCann struck out one batter and gave up 8 hits to close the game

  • The Pioneer's opening batter reached first base on a fielding error and looked to score to start the game. Cal St. Northridge had other plans after a pair of ground balls and a line out to end the inning
  • Cal State's Daphne Pofek blanked the Pioneers holding them to no hits
  • A big third and fourth inning proved too much for SHU as they game was stopped in 5 innings due to the 8 run rule
  • Jamie Carlson gave up 7 hits, striking out four batters as her record on the mound moves to 2-3
