Softball Announces Sidor and Dreher Captains for 2013

Fairfield, Conn.—Co-Head Coaches Elizabeth Luckie and Pam London name Nicole Sidor (West Vancouver, BC) and Annie Dreher (Saugus, Calif.) Captains for the 2013 season, and Jade Bowins (Frederick, Md.) and Taylor Lane (Lisbon, Conn.) Co-Captains. 

Last season, Sidor earned a spot on the All-Northeast Conference Second team and was 15-13 with one save in 185.2 innings pitched over 32 games. As a junior, she posted a 2.45 ERA with 181 strikeouts. At the plate, she hit .263, and tied the program's all-time single season record with 11 homeruns. She led the team, batting in 27 runs.

Dreher hit .209 in her sophomore campaign with four home runs and 23 RBI's. Behind the plate, the catcher boasted a .990 fielding percentage, only making three errors in her 52 games played.

Bowins joined Sidor on the 2012 All-NEC Second Team. The sophomore only committed two errors in the Sacred Heart outfield in 2012, recording a .970 fielding percentage, while pacing the team hitting .302. She stole four bases and laid down nine sacrifice bunts in the No. 2 hole in the order.

Lane made 26 appearances in the circle, posting a 4.56 ERA, giving up 33 earned runs while striking out 29.

The Pioneers kick off the 2013 season, and the hunt for a third NEC title, February 22 at the UNC Charlotte Tournament.
