Kim Banner enters her 12th season at the helm of the Pioneer women's soccer program in 2017-18. She guided the Pioneers to their their first NEC Tournament a season ago. Banner took over the reigns heading into the 2005 season. She continued Sacred Heart's tradition of winning by earning a spot in the Northeast Conference playoffs in her first three seasons, making it eight straight appearances for the club.

Banner, a native of Westerly, RI and a member of the Sports Hall of Fame there, became the SHU head coach after an eight-year stint as a Pioneer assistant under Joe Barroso.

She reached her first Northeast Conference title game as a head coach in 2007, knocking off Central Connecticut State in the semifinals, 2-1.  Banner coached that squad to within one game of the NCAA Tournament without the benefit of an All-Conference player.  19 players have earned All-Northeast Conference accolades under Banner, including two first team selections.  In Banner's debut campaign Janice Rodriguez was named the 2005 NEC Rookie of the Year. In 2014, Kristin Verrette won the NEC's Golden Boot Award as the conference's top goal scorer.

Prior to coming to Sacred Heart, Banner was a standout on the soccer field, earning All-American status at Mitchell College and the University of Bridgeport. She played one season at Mitchell, where she earned her Associates Degree in business, before moving on to Bridgeport. Banner was a two-time All-American for the Purple Knights while graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in social science in 1996. She later returned to UB and earned her Master's in education.

Banner currently resides in Fairfield with her six year old son, Hayden.
