GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Island- Sacred Heart University Women's Rugby Assistant Coach Jennifer Salomon participated on the Mexican National Team at the RF Group Rugby Americas North (RAN) Sevens tournament.
"The last 3 months have been a crazy ride for me since I've joined the Mexican National squad. It has truly been an amazing experience. This team is filled with lots of hard work and passion for the game. I am glad I was able to make an impact and help set a foundation for the next years competing cycle. I am so thankful to be apart of this journey and represent Mexico, my family, friends and SHU back at home." Salomon stated.
Team Mexico emerged victorious defeating the Jamaica by a convincing score of 24-7. This is the third year in a row the Mexican National Team has won the RAN Sevens. With the win, the Mexican National Team will compete World Rugby Global Repechage Tournament where they will look to qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Before that, the team will compete in the PAN American Games in Lima, Peru at the end of July.
Salomon has served as an assistant coach with the Pioneers since the program's elevation to Division I status. She was a four-year letter-winner at Quinnipiac, serving as a team captain.
