Women's Hockey Defeats Becker In Impressive Fashion 6-1

WORCESTER, Mass.- The Sacred Heart University Women's Ice Hockey team defeated Becker College by a final score of 6-1 tonight.With the win, the Pioneers the team earned the teams tenth win of the season.  

The Pioneers would the only team to score in the first as Victoria Grimmer would nail a goal at 7:45 to give the Pioneers a 1-0 at 7:45 in the first period. The Pioneers would dominate the shot totals in the first period as SHU outshot Becker 20 shots to five. 

In the second many more goals would be score as a total of five goals would be scored in the period. The first goal to be score would be by Anna Klein just :56 seconds into the second period to give the Pioneers a 2-0 lead. Then it would be seven minutes later when the Pioneers would score again this time off the stick of Lilly Cleary off an assist by Samantha Shoebottom to increase the Pioneer lead 3-0 at 7:13. After Becker would score there lone goal of the game at 7:53, Samantha Shoebottom would want a piece of the score as she nail a goal to give the Pioneers a 4-1 lead. 

Then just four minutes later the Pioneers would score an unassisted goal by Kennedy Spiering to give the Pioneers a 5-1 lead. SHU would tally one more in the third period courtesy of Jayne Lewis while the Pioneers were on the power-play to give the Pioneers the eventual 6-1 victory.
