Stueve hat trick leads to 4-1 win vs Salem St.

Boston, MA. – The Sacred Heart women's ice hockey team scored four goals past Salem State in a 4-1 win Saturday evening. 

Amanda Giles opened the scoring for Salem State at the 16.15 mark of the first period, assisted by Rose Sullivan, despite SHU offense having 19 shots.

After a goaless second period, Cassandra Hanlon, assisted by Brittany Smith just 2:46 into the third period would tie the game for SHU.

From there it was all Katie Stueve. With a hat trick in the third period, she put the lead beyond doubt. Her first strike, four minutes and change into the third, was asisted by Amie Varano and Olivia Bryant.

Less than ten minutes later, she found the back of the net again, this time off the playmaking of Taylor Moreland and Jayne Lewis. Finally, with less than two minutes left, she put the game away with a goal assisted by Hanlon. 

The Pioneers are back in action Friday Jan. 20 at Stevenson at 7:00PM
