Women's Golf Closes NEC Championships in Second Place

DAYTONA BEACH, FL- In their final tournament of the season, the Sacred Heart women's golf team finished second at the NEC women's golf tournament. The team shot +77 for a total of 941. After finishing third on Day 1 the Pioneers moved up to second place on Day 2. The Pioneers looked to knock Fairleigh Dickinson out of first place, but came up short after the third and final day.

The team had three competitors place in the top 10, including second and third place finishers. Hana Bowman led the team, finishing second out of 30 golfers. Bowman finished tied for 8th after Day 1, but after an impressive Day 2 and Day 3, shooting 77 and 75 respectively, the sophomore moved up to second place. Bowman finished the tournament shooting 14-over par for a total score of 230.

Right behind her teammate, Chelsea Sedlar finished third overall. The Pioneer shot a 77 in round one and an even better 74 in round 2. The Pioneer finished the tournament shooting a 78 in round 3 to finish 15-over par.

Ana Contreras was the third Pioneer to finish in the top ten, as she tied for 6th. Contreras shot a 77 in round three to finish 17-over par with a total score of 233.

Lauren Pelster and Christina Massei round out the group finishing 20th and 24th respectively. Pelster posted a +31 for a total score of 247. Massei finished 43-over par with a total score of 259.
