SHU Field Hockey Falls to No. 21 Albany at Home, 5-1

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Sacred Heart University field hockey team suffered its second loss of the season, as the Pioneers fell to No. 21 Albany, 5-1, at home on Saturday afternoon. Allie Brouhard tallied a goal in the win.

The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, September 9, when the Pioneers host Villanova in its at Johnson Field in New Haven, Conn. at 4 p.m.

The Scoring

  • (23:30): Katie MacCullum sent the corner into Kelsey McCrudden, who fed the ball to Frederike Helmke who put it in the back of the net to put Albany up 1-0

  • (29:30): Katie MacCullum scored to put the Great Danes up 2-0, Megan Ma was credited with an assist

  • (31:49): Carli Pelletier sent a pass to Elaina Burhcell, who put the ball in the back of the net to put Albany up 3-0

  • (37:37): Kelsy Hopkins' shot on goal was saved and deflected, Allie Brouhard corralled the rebound and put it past the goalie to make it a 3-1 game

  • (64:51): Ghislaine Beerkens scored an unassisted goal

  • (65:08): Beerkens fed a pass to Helmke, who scored to put Albany up 5-1

Noteworthy

  • Brouhard's goal was her third of the season, which leads the team

  • Brouhard's seven points on the season leads the team as well

  • Brouhard has registered a point in four of Sacred Heart's six games

  • Brouhard recorded a defensive save in the loss
