Fairfield, Conn. - Sacred Heart University senior Amanda Nardiello (Brick, NJ/Brick Township) took home co-scholar-athlete honors in women's bowling. Nardiello earned second team NTCA All-America honors this past week following a stellar campaign that saw her earn first team All-NEC plaudits. She helped lead the Pioneers to the conference regular season title and a runner-up finish at the NEC Championship, and was a three-time NEC Bowler of the Week. Nardiello ranked second in league play in both filled frames (.864) and overall frame average (20.15).
The NEC also announced the winter Academic Honor Roll and Commissioner's Honor Roll on Thursday. The Pioneers led all NEC members with 119 selections to the Academic Honor Roll, for a 3.2 GPA or better. In addition, SHU had 33, second-highest in the conference, named to the Academic Honor Roll, recognizing student-athletes with a 3.75 or better GPA.
On a national basis, the 2016-17 NEC Bowler of the Year ranks fifth in filled frames (.882) and tenth in overall average (20.59) for the 2017-18 season. Nardiello, who hails from Brick, NJ, was also named the MVP of the PVAM Invitational. She ends her career as a three-time member of the NEC Academic Honor Roll. Nardiello, who majors in Media Arts, carries a 3.57 grade point average.
Nardiello is also a member of Lambda Pi Eta and the Communications Honor Society as well as making the Dean's List Fall 2015, Fall 2017, and Spring 2017.
The senior has been a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee from 2015-2018 as well as serving the community, volunteereing weekly at the Bridgeport Public Library in Bridgeport, Conn from 2016-2018.
