FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart women's basketball graduate student Erin Storck was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 1 Women's Basketball First Team, as announced by the organization on Thursday, February 21, 2018. Storck wins her first career CoSIDA Academic All-District honor and becomes the first player in program history to earn the distinctive academic honor. The announcement makes Storck immediately eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, which will be voted on by the CoSIDA membership and announced in March.
Storck is enrolled in the 3+1 program at Sacred Heart, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Management after just three years at the University. During her time as an undergraduate, Storck compiled an impressive 3.97 cumulative grade-point average to achieve her degree in Management. Storck is currently enrolled in the MBA program at Sacred Heart, with a concentration in Administration, and owns a perfect 4.00 GPA through one semester of grad school. Strock achieved a spot on the Dean's List in all six of her undergraduate semesters and achieved a perfect 4.0 semester GPA four times.
Storck is one of just five student-athletes named to the District 1 First Team which is comprised of NCAA Division I institutions in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important contributor with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games and must be in at least their sophomore season. Once nominations are received, CoSIDA membership then vote on deserving candidates.
On the floor, Storck has been a major contributor to the Pioneers' 13-win campaign thus far in 2018-19 as she is posting averages of 10.3 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 2.9 APG, 1.3 SPG and 1.0 BPG while leading the team with 33.4 MPG. She currently sits in a tie for 14th in the Northeast Conference in scoring, while also ranked ninth in assists, tied for 14th in steals, ninth in blocks and sixth in minutes played.
Storck and the Pioneers are back in action this weekend as SHU travels up to New Britain to face in-state league foe Central Connecticut State on Saturday at 1 PM.
