The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team dropped a 72-48 decision in its second game versus the Argentina National Team at CENARD, in as many nights. Argentina is in preparation for the 2018 FIBA World Cup, entering the tournament ranked 15thin the world.
The game was closely contested, with the Pioneers taking an early lead, in part thanks to a three-pointer from Erin Storck. The two teams were strong defensively, with the first quarter ending 14-7. The Pioneers kept the game close, heading into the intermission trailing by just eight, 29-21.
SHU opened the third quarter with a rally, closing to within two points, 30-28 during the third quarter. Argentina pulled away in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
Storck led the Pioneers with 11 points, including a three-point field goal; one of four that SHU connected on from behind the arc. Adrianne Hagood scored in double digits once again, tallying 10 points, despite foul trouble.
The Pioneers third game of the trip will be on Sunday, when they take on Deportivo Berazategui.
