The Sacred Heart men’s cross country team raced to a seventh place finish on Saturday morning at the Northeast Conference Championships, hosted by Central Connecticut State University at Stanley Quarter Park. The Pioneers finished the race with 232 points. Wagner took home its first-ever NEC title, edging out the perennial league power CCSU who took second place.
Racing in the picturesque surroundings in northern Vermont, the Sacred Heart men’s cross country team placed fourth out of four teams on Saturday in the Fall Foliage Invitational hosted by the University of Vermont. New Hampshire claimed the team victory with 32 points while the Pioneers took fourth with 135 team points on the day.
The Sacred Heart men’s cross country team competed in the New England Championships on Saturday at Franklin Park in Boston. Racing agains the top competition across all NCAA Divisions in the Northeast, the Pioneers placed 24th out of 25 teams. Providence claimed the team victory in the varsity event.
After a three-week span between competitions, the Sacred Heart men’s cross country team was back in action on Saturday, placing 10th out of 19 teams at the Ted Owen Invitational held at Stanley Quarter Park. American International claimed the team victory with 42 points, 29 more than the runner-up Wagner. The Pioneers finished the day with 305 team points and fourth out of the seven total Northeast Conference teams in competition.
Racing against some of the top competition in the Northeast, the Sacred Heart men’s cross country team placed fourth out of four teams on Saturday at the UMass Invitational. The host Minutemen (33 points) eked out a win over runner-up UConn (35 points) while WPI claimed third (64 points) and the Pioneers (115 points) took fourth.
The Sacred Heart men’s cross country team opened the 2019 campaign on Saturday morning with a fourth place showing at the Stony Brook Invitational. The six milometer meet, hosted by Stony Brook University, also featured Fordham, Quinnipiac and Hunter as well as a small contingent from LIU.
Sacred Heart head men's cross country coach Christian Morrison has announced the team’s schedule for the upcoming 2019 season. The slate features six regular season meets leading up to the Northeast Conference Championships in early November. In addition, the men’s cross country team was picked sixth in the NEC Preseason Coaches’ Poll, as announced by the league office on Twitter this afternoon.
The Sacred Heart University Department of Athletics celebrated the Class of 2019 at the 27thAnnual Senior Awards Brunch at the William H. Pitt Center on Friday afternoon. The members of the Pioneer senior class were honored for their success in the classroom and the athletic venue with numerous awards. Part of the celebration included 63 student-athletes, more than 40 percent of the graduating class, being inducted into the C. Donald Cook Scholar Athlete Society for posting cumulative grade point averages of 3.5 or better.
FAIRFIELD, Conn.- Both the Sacred Heart University men’s and women’s cross country teams have been named USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic teams. The men were one of 195 teams while the women were one of 228 teams to earn the honor.
Albany, NY.- Senior Trevor Guerrera had another strong showing to lead the Pioneers. He finished in sixth place with a time of 25:34.9, which is six seconds faster than his last time on the course and not far off his career personal best.
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Trevor guerrera of the Sacred Heart Cross Country team was honored with the Northeast Conference Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week Award on Tuesday for his performance at the UMass Invitational Saturday.
