The Sacred Heart University men's track and field team participated at the Yale Season Opener in New Haven, Conn. Saturday. Nicholas Pelletier highlighted the men's effort Saturday, capturing the top spot in the 500m, with a time of 1:08.18
Nicholas Quinn placed seventh in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.08, slightly faster than his preliminary run of 9.12. Moetiz Shilleh was also a top finisher, taking third in the men's mile with a time of 4:26.99.
Nicholas Malzone cleared a personal-best of 1.89m (6' 2.25") in the high jump. Gavin Thurlow ran a 2:38.34 in the men's 1000m taking second overall, and first-year Cameron Croce had a solid opening season shot put throw of 13.46m (44' 2") which was good enough for an eighth place finish.
The Pioneers return to action the first weekend of the New Year, travelling to the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Center in Staten Island for the Wagner Seahawks Invitational
