Ten SHU Indoor Track and Field Athletes Capture All-NEC Honors

(Fairfield, CT) - Ten Sacred Heart University Indoor Track and Field student-athletes were made All-NEC honors for their idoor seasons, announced by the Northeast Conference Monday afternoon.

For the Men's Indoor team, which finished second in the NEC team standings with 116 points, Bertony Jean-Louis (Norwalk, CT) and Drayke Jackson (East Northport, NY) both made the All-NEC First Team in their events.  Jean-Louis, who finished 12th in the NCAA Championships in the 60-Meter Hurdles with a time of 7.84 seconds and broke the school and venue record with a 7.76 second time at the IC4A, paced the NEC with a 8.02 second time.    Jackson earned his honors in the High Jump event with a bound of 2.07 meters, best in the conference as well.

Patrick Peterson (Gloversville, NY), Jeremy Rosado (Brooklyn, NY), and Brandon Hutchison (Bay Shore, NY) all made the All-NEC Men's Indoor Second Team.  Peterson ran a 1:52.62 in the 800 Meter. Rosado finished just behind his teammate Jean-Louis with a time of 8.10 in the 60-Meter Hurdles.  Hutchison recorded a leap of 6.69 meters in the Long Jump.

For the Women's Indoor Team, which finished third in the NEC team standings with 109.5 points, Brittney Lane (Greenwich, NY) and Athalia Smith (New Britain, CT) were both individual champions in their events to earn All-NEC Women's Indoor First Team honors.  Lane led all NEC'ers in the 3000 Meter ith a time of 9:51.47, while Smith won the Weight Throw with a toss of 18.22 meters.

Lane also earned All-NEC Women's Indoor Second Team honors in the 5000 Meter with a time of 17:35.55.  Joining her on the second team are Brittany Henninger (Bristol, CT), Lindsay Aponte (West Islip, NY), and Kolbi Smith (Valatie, NY).  Henninger finished the Mile Run in 4:59.03, Aponte recorded a Shot Put toss of 14.21 meters, and Smith threw 17.80 meters in the Weight Throw.

Freshmen Ashia Wright (Chesire, CT) made the NEC Women's Indoor All-Rookie Team with a time of 7.77 seconds in the 60-Meter Hurdles.
