Wibmer Tabbed Twice in NEC Weekly Awards, Named Rookie and Player of the Week

SOMERSET, N.J.- Sacred Heart University first-year William Wibmer was named the Northeast Conference Rookie and Player of the Week for his outstanding performance this week against Wagner.

Wibmer's fourth NEC Rookie of the Week award and first NEC Player of the Week recognition of the season came on the heels of his 6-4, 6-2 win at #2 singles over Wagner's Dylan Walters. He also teamed with junior Seiji Hosokawa for a 6-4 victory against the Seahawks' tandem of Anatoly Lashkul and Dale Sandy. Wibmer, who hails from Maldonado, Uraguay, paces SHU and is tied for second in the NEC with 15 singles wins in 2018-19. He closed out the regular season with a 5-0 record vs. NEC opponents and has won three straight headed into the NEC Tournament.
