SHU Tennis Advances to NEC Quarterfinals

West Windsor, NJ – The Sacred Heart men's tennis team easily defeated the Wagner Seahawks, 4-0, Thursday afternoon to advance to the quarterfinals of the Northeast Conference Tournament in West Windsor, NJ. The Pioneers will now face off against second seeded Fairleigh Dickinson.

 SHU secured the doubles point over Wagner with wins from two and three doubles. The duo of Luka Bagi (Branford, CT) and Jeremy Shuskus (West Hartford, CT) defeated the Wagner team of Taylor Santoro and Chris Rautenstrauch , 8-2, while the SHU pair of Justin Pagan (Flushing, NY) and Brian Power (Pelham, NY) blanked Christopher Jarema and Steve Nakajima, 8-0.

In singles play, Sacred Heart only dropped one game from #4 Power, #5 Kevin Budrawich (New Canaan, CT), and #6 Shuskus to secure the 4-0 victory.  

SHU and defending champion Fairleigh Dickinson square off tomorrow morning at 11:30 am.
