Setting the Scene…  The preseason favorite and defending NEC champion Mount St. Mary's hosts the Sacred Heart Pioneers on Saturday as both teams are still looking for their first NEC victory as the season is coming to a close. The 3-8 Pioneers are hoping to snap a four game losing streak in the final road game of the year before coming home next week to face in-state rival Quinnipiac.

Last Time Out…  The Pioneers headed into the final quarter of the game with a two-goal lead, but the Seahawks held the Sacred Heart men's lacrosse team scoreless while netting five goals to earn Wagner its first win of the season. The Pioneers dominated the second period. Sophomore goalie Ryan Hughes (Bayport, N.Y.) recorded four saves in the quarter shutting out Wagner and allowing the Pioneers to go on an offensive streak. Sophomore Tom Sardelli (Rochester, Mich.) kicked off the run with 11:12 remaining in the half, getting the ball from Ferrino and launching a shot to the bottom right of the goal. Sardelli's classmate Matt Gannon (Huntington, N.Y.) got scored back-to-back goals on Wagner goalie Nicholas Gibaldi less than two minutes apart. Gannon also had a hand in the first of two Pioneer goals in the final minute of the half, dishing the ball to senior Aaron Lupo (Schenectady, N.Y.) giving Sacred Heart their first lead of the day. Junior Steve Kontos (Danvers, Mass.) dominated the faceoff circle, winning 20 out of 23 on the day.
