Setting the Scene...  The Sacred Heart Pioneers head to #15 ranked Yale University on Tuesday night in search of their first win of 2012.  The Pioneers take on their second-straight Ivy League opponent after coming up short in an 11-10 loss at Dartmouth on Saturday.  The Bulldogs are 2-0 and are coming off a 13-7 win at home over Albany on Saturday.

Last Time Out...  The Dartmouth combination of junior Chris Costabile and senior Drew Tunney combined for 10 goals and six assists to lead the Big Green to a 11-10 win over the Pioneers at Scully-Fahey Field on Saturday.  Costabile scored seven of Dartmouth's 11 goals with Tunney setting him up on six of the seven.  The Pioneers to four goals from sophomore Mike Mawdsley in the loss.  The Big Green built a 9-5 lead into the third quarter and held off a late charging Pioneer squad for their second win of the season.

Pioneer News & Notes...  The Pioneers will face their second ranked opponent of the young season in the #16 ranked Bulldogs....SHU lost to #14 ranked Hofstra, 11-9, in the season opener...SHU's three losses this season have been by a combined five goals...SHU is second in the NEC allowing 11.33 goals per game...The Pioneers are back at home on Saturday and will face Manhattan in the second of two games this season against the MAAC...Sophomore Mike Mawdsley tied his career-high with four goals in the Dartmouth loss...Mawdsley had four goals in the overtime win at Marist last season...He is tied for fourth in the NEC in goals per game (2.00) and is tied for 10th in points per game (2.00)...Sophomore Cody Marquis is eighth in the NEC in points per game (2.33) Classmate Matt Gannon had a career-high four assists in the loss...Sophomore Ryan Hughes made his first career start in goal and turned away 12 Dartmouth shots...Junior face-off specialist Stephan Kontos is third in the NEC (.522).

All-Time vs. Yale...  Yale won the only previous meeting between the two schools back in 2002.  The Bulldogs posted a 22-11 over the Pioneers down in Boca Raton, Florida. 

Scouting the Bulldogs...  Yale closes out a three-game homestand to open their season hosting the Pioneers.  The Bulldogs opened with a 19-6 win over St. John's and after their win over the Great Danes on Saturday moved up to #15 in this week's USILA Coaches Top-20 Poll and are #16 in the NIKE/Inside Lacrosse Media Top-20 Poll.  The Bulldogs rank second in the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Coaches Poll.  Senior attacker Matt Gibson and sophomore attacker Brandon Mangan share the team lead with six goals apiece.  Gibson has five assists as well for a team-high 11 points.  The Bulldogs' freshman goalie Eric Natale has played the majority of minutes in cage, sporting a 6.65 goals against average.

Around the NEC...  The Bryant Bulldogs swept the NEC weekly awards thanks to a 15-8 win at home over Vermont.  Sophomore Colin Dunster scored four goals with an assist to earn NEC Offensive Player of the Week honors.  Senior goalkeeper Jameson Love was named the Defensive Player of the Week after making 17 saves and freshman Kevin Massa earned Rookie honors for winning 13-of-25 face-offs with seven ground balls.  Bryant is ranked fifth in this week's NEILA Coaches Poll.  The Quinnipiac Bobcats will play host to #17 Fairfield on Wednesday while Robert Morris will travel to #20 Ohio State on Thursday.
