Men's Lacrosse Picked to Finish 5th in Preseason Poll

Fairfield, Conn.—The Sacred Heart men's lacrosse team is picked to finish fifth in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll released today. Mount St. Mary's, winner of last year's inaugural NEC Men's Lacrosse Tournament, was picked to once again finish first.

Last season, the Pioneers boasted a 4-9 overall record, and were 1-4 against NEC opponents to finish fifth in the league, the same finish as the year before. Mike Mawdsley led the team in goals with 28. Along with 10 assists, the freshman finished the year with 33 points. Also returning is the Pioneers' face off specialist Steve Kontos who was 149-276 last year with 68 groundballs.

The team opens their season on February 18 at Hofstra.
