Legatto and Berube Claim Atlantic Hockey Weekly Honors

Steven Legatto (Kelowna, BC) and David Berube (Quebec City, QC) each earned an Atlantic Hockey weekly award after the Pioneers went 3-0-0 against AHA opponents last week.  Berube was named the Co-Player of the week after posting five points, including a hat trick Tuesday night against AIC.  Legatto earned Goaltender of the Week honors after allowing just six goals in three games between the pipes and picked up all three victories.

Legatto made 78 total saves for the week, compiling a 1.98 goals against average and a .929 save percentage.  He allowed just one goal, a power play marker, on 33 shots in a 6-1 victory over AIC.  The rookie netminder tallied 45
stops in a road sweep of UConn  He came up big twice Saturday night for the Pioneers, stopping two Husky breakaways with glove saves.

Junior forward Berube posted four goals and one assist in SHU's three games last week.  He started the week with a hat trick, the first by a SHU player since 2006, in a 6-1 win over AIC.  He also scored the game winning goal in the third period Saturday night to give the Pioneers a 3-2 victory against rival UConn.  Berube also assisted on the SHU goal that gave Sacred Heart a 3-2 advantage in the third period Friday night.

The men's ice hockey team returns to action Friday night as they host first place RIT at the Milford Ice Pavilion, face-off is set for 7:05 pm.
