Colorado Springs, CO - Seven different players scored goals as Colorado College rolled to a 7-0 win over Sacred Heart in men's ice hockey action Friday night at World Arena.
A night after SHU suprised CC with a 2-2 tie, the Tigers came out angry, jumping on the Pioneers right away, with two goals in the first seven minutes. Junior Kris Fredheim got things started at the 4:51 mark, blasting a shot from the point through the legs of SHU goaltender Stefan Drew. Freshman Tim Hall scored his first collegiate goal at the 7:08 mark, one-timing a feed from Eric Walsky. Senior Chad Rau scored his team leading 11th goal with 5:15 left in the first, whacking home a loose puck in front of the SHU net.
The Tigers kept things rolling into the second period as Andreas Vlassopoulous scored just 19 seconds into the second period to make it 4-0. At the 4:36 mark, junior Bill Sweatt tipped home a shot by Brian Conelley for the fifth CC goal. Sophomore Stephen Schultz lifted a backhander into the top of the net midway through the period. Brian McMillin finished the scoring for the period as he rifled a one-timer from the face-off circle off a feed from Fredheim.
The Tigers dominated the offensive play throughout the game, outshooting SHU 47-24 for the game.
Sacred Heart will take the next two weeks off for the holidays. The Pioneers return to the ice in a non-conference series against Niagara January 2-3 at the Milford Ice Pavilion.
