Last Time Out... The Sacred Heart University Men's Ice Hockey team fell to Yale by a final score of 3-1 on Saturday, January 12. Sophomore Jordan Kaplan tallied the goal for the Pioneers.
Scouting The Yellow Jackets... AIC is coming off a recent loss to Atlantic Hockey rival RIT as they fell 3-2 to drop the team's overall record to 9-11-1 on the year. The Yellow Jackets are currently led by sophomore forward Tobias Fladeby who currently leads the team with 11 goals on the year. On the assists front the AIC is lead by junior forward Blake Christensen who currently leads the team with 16 assists. In the back of the net AIC is led by Zackarias Skog who has played in 15 games for AIC and has a record of 6-8-0 and tallies a GAA of 3.31 while compiling a save percentage of 87.8.
Last Meeting... The Sacred Heart University Men's Ice Hockey team fell in a tight battle to AIC by a final score of 6-5. Five separate Pioneers scored for SHU in the loss. With the loss the Pioneers dropped to 5-10-2 on the season while falling to 5-7-1 in Atlantic Hockey play.
Kaplan Crushing Goals... Sophomore Jordan Kaplan currently is tied for second on team in goals this season with four goals. He has currently tallied a goal in two of the past three games including most recently against top ranked Yale in which he scored the teams lone goal.
Benson Making His Mark.... Freshman goalie Josh Benson has started in goal in he past seven games for the Pioneers. The freshman netminder is currently tallying a GAA of 2.80, save percentage of .900 and compiled a total of 217 saves.
Freshman Finding There Way: This years freshman class is showing impressive growth as they have scored a total of ten goals and 13 assists for a total of 23 points. Freshman Todd Goehring netted his first career goal in the Canisius series while Austin Magera and Ryan Steele each compiled assists. Steele recorded one while Magera tallied two. Austin Magera leads the freshman class in points with 10 (3 goals and 7 assists).
