HAVERHILL, Mass. - Junior Matt Gingera scored the first hat trick of the season, all in the third period, for the Pioneers in their 6-3 come-from-behind playoff win at Bentley on Saturday.  For his efforts, Gingera was named the Atlantic Hockey Association Player of the Week for the week ending March 6.

Gingera's first goal of the game tied the game at three, 10:41 into the third period.  After Sacred Heart took the lead, nine seconds later, he added a pair of insurance goals to seal the win and guide the Pioneers into the AHA Quarterfinals where they will face Air Force in a best-of-three series, beginning on Friday.

The three-goal game lifted Gingera's team-leading season total to 19.  He ranks second on the team in points with 27, as he also collected eight assists.  Currently Gingera sits in a three-way tie for third in single season goals by a Pioneer with 19.  He is tied with Alexandre Parent (2007-'08), Pierre-Luc O'Brien (2005-'06), and Garrett Larson (2003-'04).

Senior Olivier St. Onge (Wickham, Que.), the reigning goalie of the week, earned a spot on the AHA Honor Roll for his performance in the first postseason start of his career.  St. Onge earned his second straight start and provided 42 saves, including 15 in the third period that kept SHU within striking distance.  His season save percentage now stands at .902, heading into the Air Force series.
