FAIRFIELD, Conn.— Sacred Heart University men's golf freshman Nathan Kim was named the NEC Men's Golfer of the week, as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
The honor is the first of the season for Kim after finishing in first at the SHU Spring Invite.
Kim won the individual title at the SHU Spring Invite, beating out 37 competitors over the two-round event to lead the Pioneers to a third place team finish. The freshman set a course record on Sunday with a 7-under 65 in the first round, and recorded a 5-under 139 over 36 holes to finish five strokes clear of the field. The previous 18-hole mark was a 66 set by former SHU star and NEC Golfer of the Year Pete Ballo back in 2014.
The Pioneers will be back in action on Friday, April 26, when they open up at the NEC Championships.
