NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Sacred Heart University men's golf team concluded its play at the Macdonald Cup, hosted by Yale, finishing 13th out of 14 teams on Sunday.
The Pioneers finished with a team score of +65 and a 905 total. Illinois won the tournament, finishing 14-under par and a 825 total.
Nathan Kim led the way for the Pioneers, finishing tied for 32nd out of 78 competitors, shooting 10-over par and 220 for the weekend. Kim shot best in rounds two and three, where he shot a 2-over in back-to-back rounds.
Saptak Talwar finished tied for 51st in the tournament after shooting 16-over par and 226 for the weekend. Talwar shot 73 back-to-back in the first two rounds, before closing with an 80 in the final round.
Alex Manner finished third in SHU's grouping and tied for 62nd overall, shooting 19-over par. Clifford Lindholm and Hector Gutierrez rounded out the group, shooting 22-over par and 25-over par respectively.
The Pioneers are back in action on Sunday, Oct. 7 when they take part in the Connecticut Cup, held at the Great Course Golf Club.
