SIMSBURY, Conn. — The Sacred Heart University men's golf team concluded its play at the Ryan T. Lee Collegiate at Hop Meadow Country Club, finishing first out of 11 teams on Sunday. Saptak Talwar won the Individual Medalist honors at 1-under par after a two-hole playoff.
The Pioneers finished with a team score of +9 and a 585 total. Bryant and Saint Peter's finished tied for second with team scores of +18.
Talwar led the way for the Pioneers, finishing first out of 73 competitors, shooting 1-under par, defeating Matt Smith of Yale on the second playoff hole. Talwar's shot best in the first round as he shot a 71 on Par-72, then followed with a 72 in the second round for a total score of 143.
Alex Manner finished tied for fifth in the tournament after shooting 2-over par for the weekend. Manner shot a 73 in both rounds for a total score of 146.
Jake Sullivan and Nathan Kim finished tied for ninth, each finishing 4-over par and a total score of 148. Kim was consistent over the weekend, shooting a 74 on both days, while Sullivan's best day was on day one when he shot par. Cliff Lindholm rounded out the group for Sacred Heart, shooting 14-over par for the weekend.
The Pioneers are back in action on Monday, Sept. 17 when they take part in the Hartford Hawks Invite, held at the Bulls Bridge Golf Club in South Kent, Conn.
