GRANSONVILLE, Md.— The Sacred Heart University men's golf team finished fourth at the Towson Invitational, paced by senior Matt Shubley who finished tied for first overall at 3-over par.
The Whitby, Ontario native carded a two-round score of 147 at the event held at Prospect Bay Country Club. Shubley led the field with nine birdies in 36-holes, tying with Towson's Kobdech Rodrat for the overall lead. Junior Alex Manner was the other top 10 finisher, tying for ninth overall at seven-over par.
Freshman Saptak Talwar carded a two-round score of 157 to finish tied for 33rd. Sophomore Clifford Lindholm finished two strokes back at 159 to tie for 40th. Junior Hector Gutierrez rounded out the Pioneers scoring group with a score of 167 to finish tied for 75th.
St. Bonaventure claimed the team title with a two-day score of 603. CCSU and Towson rounded out the top three with scores of 609 and 612 respectively. The Pioneers finished nine strokes off the lead with a score of 614.
SHU returns home for the SHU Spring Invite at Great River Golf Club on Sunday, April 15 in the final tune-up before the Northeast Conference Championship at the end of the month.
