Men’s Golf Tied for Sixth Place After Second Round of NEC Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.— The Sacred Heart men's golf team carded a team score of 305 in the second round to move into a tie for sixth place at 622 in the Northeast Conference Championship at LPGA International. 

Junior Matt Shubley represents the Pioneers in the top-20 as he is tied for 15th place at +11 through 36 holes. Shubley shot a 77 in the second round as he recorded two birdies through the first nine holes of the day. Sophomore Hector Gutierrez had one of the biggest moves of the day on the leaderboard, jumping up 15 spots after shooting a 73 in the second round. Gutierrez has a two-day score of +13 and picked up 13 pars to go along with two birdies on day two. Senior AJ Correia also sits at +13 after he finshed the round at five-over par 77.

Tom D'Andrea and Jacob Henny both sit tied for 28th at 15-over par. D'Andrea carded a six-over par 78, while Henny shot a nine-over par 81.

The Pioneers currently sit tied for sixth with Wagner College on the team leaderboard. They currently sit three strokes behind CCSU and Saint Francis U who are tied for fourth at 43-over par. Bryant continues to lead the field at +17 and boasts a 15-stroke lead over second place FDU. 

The third and final round will be played on Sunday.
