UNIVERSITY PLACE, WASH.— The Sacred Heart men's golf team finished the Seattle University Redhawk Invitational at Chambers Bay in 17th Tuesday after a third-round team score of 316. This put the Pioneers' tournament total at 935 and 87 strokes over par.
Junior Matt Shubley was SHU's highest finisher on the leaderboard, tying for 56th at 14-over par in the three-round tournament. Sophomore Hector Gutierrez tied for 77th with a score of 20-over par. Junior Connor Cunningham carded a 76 in the final round to tie for 83rd with a score of +24. Senior AJ Corrreia and sophomore Alex Manner rounded out the scoring group for SHU tied for 91st at 33 over-par.
The tournament featured national competition from all over the country. Iowa State claimed the team title at five-over par. Northwestern finished one stroke behind them in second place followed by tournament host Seattle U in third at 12-over par.
The Pioneers travel back east to compete in the Til Duty is Done Collegiate Invitational at Mohegan Sun Golf Club on Friday, April 14 as the final tune up before the Northeast Conference Championship later this month.
