MILFORD, Conn.- The Sacred Heart men's golf team concluded fall play with a first place finish at the SHU Fall Classic held at Great River Golf Club on Monday. The Pioneers finished with a total of 599 to take the team title.
Freshman Clifford Lindholm picked up the individual title with a score of 142. Lindholm's final round on Monday started with a hole in one at the second hole. He finished the round and final score at two-under par. Coach Matt McGreevy had praise for the rookie, "I'm very happy for Cliff for his hole in one and his gritty performance today with a final round 68 to win the individual event."
Sophomore Hector Gutierrez finished second overall at three-over par in the two round tournament. Senior A.J Correia and junior Matt Shubley both finished tied for fifth with a score of 11-over par. Junior Tom D'Andrea closed out the scoring group with a finish at 15-over par, to tie for 12th overall.
Sacred Heart finished the tournament with a score of 23-over par, fifteen strokes ahead of second place Fairfield. McGreevy was happy about the progress of his team, "the team has made positive steps this fall and we will continue to work hard the rest of the fall and into the winter. Very excited about the spring."
