Connor Donnelly Honored With John Croffy Outstanding Leader Award

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Senior men's golfer Connor Donnelly was honored with the John Croffy Outstanding Leader Award at the 25th Annual Campus Life Leadership Awards on Tuesday night. The award is the highest individual honor given at the CLLAs to the Sacred Heart underclassman who is considered the most outstanding leader on campus.

Donnelly is the first student-athlete since 2007 to receive the award. He was recognized as an exemplary representative of the Athletic Department and the SHU community overall during his four years at the school. As the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President for two years and an Executive Board member for four years, Donnelly has led numerous initiatives, fundraisers, and community service efforts. Outside of athletics, he is a SRSA at Roncalli Hall and has been on the Dean's List every semester in Marketing and the Honors Program.

He also serves the National SAAC representative for the Northeast Conference. Beginning July 1, Donnelly will begin a term as the Vice Chair of National SAAC. He also serves as the student-athlete representative for the NCAA Committee on Institutional Performance, which examines time demands on student-athletes and seeks to give them a voice at the national level. The demands include traveling to conference and national SAAC meetings several times a year at the NCAA offices in Indianapolis and other locations.

Also Tuesday night, Angela Harrison of the women's track and field team was named the Athletics Leader of the Year. She earned the honor for her tireless work in the community at Bridgeport Public Schools, the one-on-one and small group mentoring and panel speaking she does for incoming freshmen student-athletes, and for her role as an active SAAC representative and Executive Board Secretary.
