Men’s Golf In Ninth Place After First Day Of Til Duty Is Done Invitational

BALTIC, Conn. – The Sacred Heart men's golf team is in ninth place after the first 36 holes of the Til Duty Is Done Collegiate Invitational, hosted by UConn at Mohegan Sun Country Club. 

Fresh off his NEC Golfer of the Week award, Hector Gutierrez was the Pioneers' low scorer on Saturday. After a round of 77 on the par-72 course in the morning, Gutierrez shot a one-under 71 in the afternoon to finish the day at four-over and in a tie for 18th place. Matt Shubley finished the day tied for 46th at +11 with rounds of 77 and 78. Tom D'Andrea had rounds of 77 and 80 to tie for 55th at +13. AJ Correia rounded out the SHU scoring group at +16 with rounds of 84 and 76, finishing the day tied for 65th. Connor Cunningham, playing as an individual, is tied for 24th at +6 and had a four-under 68 in the first round.

The Pioneers were +37 on the day, five strokes behind eighth place St. Bonaventure. UConn leads the tournament at -12, followed by Rhode Island at -1 and Army West Point at +2.

The tournament concludes on Sunday.
