Men’s Golf Takes Third At Lonnie Barton Invitational

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Sacred Heart men's golf team recorded their best team score of 299 in the early spring season to finish 3rd at the Lonnie Barton Invitational. The Pioneers total score for the tournament was 31-over par.

Tom D'Andrea finished the tournament tied for second place after shooting a 1-over 73 for the second day in a row. He finished the tournament three strokes behind IPFW's Zach Schroeder, who took medalist honors with a two-round score of one under par. Hector Gutierrez moved up nine spots with an even par 72 to end the tournament tied for ninth.

Matt Shubley and Alex Manner both ended the tournament tied for 25th; Shubley shot a 6-over par 78 while Manner, who competed as an individual, jumped 12 spots after carding a 74. A.J. Correia bettered his first round score by five strokes with a 76 to place tied for 32nd at +13. Connor Cunningham also moved up the leaderboard after shooting a +7 79 in the second round to finish tied for 39th. Curtis Quinn ended the tournament at +18 also to join Cunningham in the group that finished tied for 39th. Connor Donnelly shot a final round 85 to finish at +29 in 53rd place.

Sacred Heart finished six strokes behind Wagner who were second at +25 overall, while IPFW held onto the top spot at +12.

The Pioneers are next in action at Prospect Bay Country Club for the Towson Invitational on April 2nd.
