DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Sophomore Tom D'Andrea shot a final round one-under 71 on Friday to finish the Gary Freeman B-CU Spring Invitational tied for 33rd. As a team, the Sacred Heart men's golf team finished in 11th place.
D'Andrea had five birdies on Friday, including back-to-back birdies on holes eight and nine to finish the front nine at one under. He finished the tournament at +10, moving up 17 spots on the leaderboard. Matt Shubley also posted his best round of the tournament Friday with a one-over 73. Shubley was two-under through nine holes Friday and finished the tournament at +17 in a tie for 54th place. A.J. Correia finished the tournament tied for 62nd at +23 after carding a final round 77. Hector Gutierrez rounded out the Pioneers' scoring group with a 79 Friday, tying for 64th at +24.
As a team, Sacred Heart had its best round of the tournament on Friday. The Pioneers had a team score of 300, 12 strokes over par. Sacred Heart finished the tournament at +67, three strokes behind 10th place Florida A&M. Lynn won the tournament at -23 with Morehead State, Florida Atlantic, and Bethune-Cookman rounding out the top four.
The Pioneers return to the LPGA International Hills Course on Monday, March 7 for the first round of the Lonnie Barton Invitational.
