SOUTH KENT, Conn. – Led by top-50 finishes by Connor Cunningham and Matt Shubley, the Sacred Heart men's golf team finished play at the Hartford Hawks Invitational at Bull's Bridge Golf Club Tuesday in a tie for 15th place.
The Pioneers had a team score of 311 for the final round, 23 strokes over par. Sacred Heart tied with Stetson for 15th with both teams at +60 for the tournament. Hofstra was 14th at +57, one stroke behind Fairfield and Fordham who tied for 12th. UConn won the tournament at -11.
Connor Cunningham was Sacred Heart's top finisher, tying for 45th with a three-round score of +11. Cunningham fired a final round 77 on the par-72 course Tuesday. Matt Shubley also had a 77 on Tuesday, putting him at +12 and in a tie for 49th. Freshman Alex Manner tied for 70th at +18 with a final round 79. AJ Correia rounded out the scoring group for the Pioneers, as his final round of 78 put him tied for 80th at +21.
The Pioneers next hit the links Sept. 26-27 at the Quechee Challenge at The Quechee Club in Quechee, Vermont.
