Men’s Golf Opens Fall With 14th Place Finish At Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate

VERONA, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart men's golf team wrapped up its first tournament of the fall on Monday, finishing 14th at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate at Turning Stone Resort.

After posting team scores of 18-over par and 29-over par on Sunday, the Pioneers posted their best team score of the weekend in Monday's final round. Sacred Heart had a team score of 301, 13 strokes over par. The Pioneers had a team score of +60 for the three-round event, 11 strokes behind 13th-place Loyola Chicago. Missouri won the tournament at -2, 10 shots ahead of Cleveland State. 

Sophomore Connor Cunningham was the Pioneers' top finisher on the weekend, tying for 37th with a score of +11 227.  Cunningham had a round of even par 72 in the first round. Freshman Alex Manner tied for 53rd in his collegiate debut, finishing at +16. A.J. Correia and Matt Shubley rounded out the Sacred Heart scoring group. Both golfers finished the tournament tied for 65th at +18.

The Pioneers are back in action Sept. 12-13 at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Intercollegiate at Tumble Brook Country Club in Bloomfield, Conn.
