(Newport, RI) – The Sacred Heart Men's Golf team finished fifth out of 12 at the Adams Cup of Newport this week. Josh Salah led the way for the Pioneers, finishing ninth by shooting a consistent 74, 73, and 73 for a two-day overall score of 220.
The Pioneers shot 898 as a team, finishing one stroke back of fourth-place Villanova. SHU's top five included Sam Barber (25th – 226), Peter Ballo (36th – 231), Will Smittle (36thth – 231), and Ross Kronberg (43rd – 232). Bryant (10th – 930) was the only other NEC team in the tournament, while SHU finished ahead of Hartford (T-6th – 902) and UConn (T-6th – 902) and behind Yale (2nd – 867) as one of four teams from Connecticut to participate.
The University of Central Florida won the tournament with an overall team score of 866, while Yale's Sam Bernstein took the individual championship with a score of 211.
